About Us

Helpful Clever Horse is a creation of Caitlyn Adshead (Adsnoggin, Black Dime Cabaret) and Brandon Young (Black Dime Cabaret, Manic Pixie Dream Band: A Musical), two musicians from Melbourne who saw a need to provide more support for artists with unique difficulties in creating music and participating in their local scenes, particularly those with neurodivergence or disabilities. The Helpful Clever Horse therefore symbolises a mystical entity that helps to navigate the challenges of being a musician, and acts as a guide through it all.

When You Buy From Us

You are keeping Helpful Clever Horse alive, allowing us to provide more opportunities for musicians in Australia. This includes The Helpful Grant, which is our funding opportunity specifically for neurodivergent and disabled artists. Your support also lets us put on cool events like gigs and workshops, and run our podcasts and video series (which we are currently in the planning phase for). More than all that, though, when you wear one of our tees, you're increasing awareness of the Helpful Clever Horse and reminding everybody of the need to be compassionate and patient when it comes to making awesome art.
